Title Pending - A 1223Studios Production

Welcome to the new joint!

I've spent the last two years preparing a vintage Diamondback Outlook DX for bikepacking and touring the California coast, with half my gear fabricated out of PVC, tarp, reflectix and Gorilla tape. The prep journey is documented in my previous podcast Magnetofunky: Walkabout, but I'm just about done with prep, so I'm shifting format from audio to a video blog...

I want to see California outside of LA and SF, partly to lessen the odds of getting caught in an earthquake, partly to find out if the state is still the Wild West or even the Happy Hippie Granola Left Coast...

Ultimately, the video blog is a diary/journal oriented toward bikepacking, touring, occasional stealth camping and personal freedom.

Of course, a lot of stuff happens in between video releases, so an accompanying Base Camp Journal will cover the various baby steps and other etc...

I still like featuring indie music from across the globe that may never be heard on local radio, so I'll continue to include a few songs from almost any genre, whether it's from a world famous or a bedroom artist, as long as I like the beat and flow, plus whatever creative noise I want to share:

Send mp3's, press kits to: mfunkyzine "at" gmail "dot" com. Please submit media download links only, no attachments; they'll only get deleted.

[Note: Until the launch of the video blog in Spring, I'm keeping the page title under wraps...]

Beta 01 - 02/05/24 - Yeah, The Handlebar-Mounted Smartphone Video Does Suck

On one of the few sunny days in the Bay Area last week, I tested the video quality of my old smartphone's video camera mounted to the handlebars as I rode along one of my training routes in the city. Ultimately, I decided the phone is better for navigation and I should just get an action camera and use a different mount...

The background noise is from a rhythm track made using HammerHead almost 10 years ago...
